Memories of a beautiful weekend

Did lots of cycling this weekend, going where my wheels felt like going. The harder you ride, the stronger the rush of the wind on your face! It's exhilarating, and peaceful and a good workout.
I'm so glad I went.

On Wardrobe Spring-cleaning

I like having two new years in well, a year. It's like a re-start to the year.
Haven't made progress on new year's resolutions? Happy (Lunar) New Year! Here we go again!
Wardrobe still in a state of clutter? Time for spring cleaning!

This year's Chinese New Year found me with a spring-cleaning yearning.

I made some progress with my wardrobe, and with that I will be satisfied.

I set a time limit (about an hour) so that I wouldn't get cleaning fatigue.

I did a quick scan through the clothes hung up.  I found some pieces that: (a) I will never wear - these went into a pile to be given away; (b) I have outgrown or were a little small in the first place. Like a cute blue-flower-on-dark-background top from my parisian H&M spree a few years ago that I managed to wear a few times, at least. Le Sigh! This top found a new home with my cousin; (c) I am undecided about. Into a pile they went, to be reviewed later on. For instance, a dress that I wore to Chelle's pink-themed wedding festivities. Hmm.

Lastly, I found quite a few things that I'd forgotten I had. Out of sight, out of mind. I need to do some conscious rotation of clothes so that I don't get caught in a rut. Quite often, I find myself reaching for the same tried-and-tested items. I'll try figuring out new ways to wear existing clothes.

And so, that was one round of spring-cleaning. Till next time...

Saturday Social

This being the Chinese New Year season (15 days of it!), gatherings are still a-happening. Today I've been invited to a potluck with some colleagues, both past and present. It's not CNY-ish but I'm bringing home made mushroom soup! It's yummy and easy to do.

Then in the afternoon I will be at a birthday party for a cute little boy who's turned two. How quickly they grow!

Photo: my gift to the birthday boy, wrapped like a giant sweet.

Year of the Bike

This year looks like it might be the year of the bike for me. Addictive!

Movie Spotting

I spy with my little eye... a movie my family will love watching together, not to mention shedding a few tears (yes we do get a little emotional).

Gotta love long weekends. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Wicked the Musical...

...is awesome good. And dressing up for a show at the Marina Bay Sands is fun, to boot.

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?
Because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good

*my heart sighs*

Happy 2012

Ahoy there amigos
(for some strange reason, I had that mixed greeting in my head),

Been jet setting and paddling gently in the lovely cool relaxed month that is December.
I'm not sure that I'm entirely ready for 2012 but it's here nonetheless, and may it be a good one.
The past year was a mix of ups and downs, like any year.
I'm so glad we managed to pull off a house painting (with accompanying massive clean up!) this past year, and we had a family trip to Kota Kinabalu which was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. All the more so with my dad being diagnosed with cancer later in the year. We have been so blessed with so many people looking out for us, helping us and showing such great kindness. We are thankful for each one of you.

And of course a lovely trip to Bali with best friends, days of pampering and recuperating from a busy year.

I am thankful for everything, every day, every blessing both big and small. Thank you, heavenly Father.

Speaking of Everything, I adore this song... enjoy. It takes me back to windy days up in Jimbaran, surrounded by mountains and blue skies and the green hues of the tree tops around us.
